
In early 2018, my client was at a crossroads. A co-founder had just retired, the other co-founder was close to publishing a new book and a major project had just wrapped. The company had good relationships and a solid practice, but it needed an updated strategic plan to guide decision-making for growth.
My client asked me and a colleague to lead the organization through a strategic planning process. Through the project, we conducted a series of workshops with the client’s team, 1:1s with key leadership and hypothesis testing with those most closely involved in the client’s work. With those inputs, we developed a concise strategic plan that outlined the company’s mission and vision, the specific role the company could play to achieve its big idea, a strategic roadmap to summarize the big pillars of work and a detailed operational plan for how to get it done.
